OLD GOVERNOR’S MANSION

Commonwealth of Kentucky Division of Engineering | Frankfort, Kentucky

CARMAN was commissioned to prepare construction documents for the restoration of the streetscape, including a brick sidewalk and stone stairway along High and Clinton Streets, in front of the Old Governor’s Mansion in downtown Frankfort, Kentucky.

Working in conjunction with the Kentucky Heritage Council and the Division of Historic Properties, CARMAN incorporated historically correct brick patterns and installation methods to restore the historic character of the street frontage adjacent to the Old Governor’s Mansion, the oldest official residence still in use in the United States.

Intermodal Surface Transportation Enhancement Act (ISTEA) funds were utilized for this project.
